Success Story 1
Holly - Labrador
Gorgeous Holly was your typical lively Labrador Retriever puppy, bursting with energy and an insatiable thirst for adventure. Her devoted family knew that harnessing Holly’s exuberance and teaching her essential skills was key to ensuring a harmonious life together. Holly’s biggest struggle was managing her emotions around the young boys in the household. She desperately wanted to play with them like they were puppies, but of course, her teeth were too much for them to handle! This is such a common occurrence when welcoming a puppy to a home with children.
Holly thrived under the positive reinforcement techniques incorporated into each lesson, which encouraged her to perform tasks with enthusiasm. So, we got the children involved in her settle work & impulse control training. They loved it! And their parents loved it even more! Watching the boys enjoying training their puppy gave them a sense of responsibility and boosted their confidence. Seeing Holly soak up all of this attention while learning gave her so much satisfaction. We added a lot of enrichment to her walks, some scent searching games, and a reliable recall to ensure she had opportunities to run in safe environments.
Holly’s zealous nature often led to jumping and leash pulling, but with my guidance, her guardian gained the tools and techniques to redirect Holly’s energy effectively. Once her guardian understood the training techniques, with consistent practice and positive reinforcement, Holly began exhibiting polite manners, making her presence a joy for family and friends, and ensuring that walks were no longer a chore. As Holly continued her training journey, her family noticed an extraordinary transformation in her demeanour and behaviour. Her once impulsive tendencies were replaced with patience and self-control. Holly learned to curb her urge to chew on household items and her human siblings, and redirected her energy into more appropriate outlets, like playing with toys and enjoying interactive games.
